Cricket has been played in Corfu since the early nineteenth century when the island was occupied and administerd by Britain. Along with Ginger Beer and Brass Bands the Corfiots took to Cricket. There are now five cricket grounds and eleven clubs competing in competition at youith and adult level. In the last decade cricket has spread to the mainland of Greece and another Ionian Island.
Corfu welcomes clubs wishing to tour and the Hellenic Cricket Federation is pleased to receive your enquiries and help you organise the visit to Corfu. You will find Greek hospitality second to none.
Many clubs from UK, Australia and Europe have visited and played cricket in Corfu including Marylebone Cricket Club, Lord's Taverners, Australian Crusaders, Cricket Society, Kensington CC, Lord's & Commons, Turnham Green CC, British Airways, Royal Navy,Cappanelle CC etc.
Corfu is also well suited to stage cricket festivals and competitions for schools or youth sides to cricket veterans.
