N omads suffered a huge defeat on Sunday when in contrast to last Wednesday's strong batting display  the top order caved in as if more interested in a quick  finish and a beer at the bar rather than winning the match against  a bowling attack that was hardly frightening. Indeed Nomads provided Reardon with figures of 4-15 in contrast to his 2-56 when we played in June.

asdf

Cowley and Shah bowled a fine spell at both ends at the start to constrict S & M to 30 off off the 1st ten overs and at the enof 16 overs S & M were 49-2! Bartolo was battling it our almost runless at one end at S & M 1st teamer Fernando had played and missed Cowley  surviving being bowled by a whisker .

asdf

The innings was steadily transformed as Fernando thrashed, slogged, mishit and played some fine shots in an innings of 147 which took great advantage of the short boundary on one side.Micky Callo,James Schneider and Michael Blumberg were plundered and in the end Bartolo joined in the slaughter to record a useful 70.

asdf

To chase 264 on a slow true pitch with a  short boundary on one side and  nothing alarming in the bowling should have been well within the potential of Hill,  Mohammed, Dutta and Tim Schneider and presumably on another day would be. In the event Nomads were all out for 151 in the 37th over leaving you know who not out 1.

asdf

There was very good tea and several Nomads enjoyed the  Fuller's London Pride  in the bar afterwards. Charles Fellow-Smith and Steve Marians came to watch and join us in a drink but what they withnessed was not the best of Nomads afternoons. Mind you, Chris Reardon was able with Anglo Welsh loquacity to explain his lollypop, doodlebug, butterfly and whistlewig  deliveries which turned out on closer examination to be euphemisms for slow straight balls delivered with a prayer!
